Community Healthcare

Health is a major concern and the most crucial aspect of human life.

Urban slum dwellers suffer from adverse health conditions owing to the lack of education and thus lack of awareness; and the unwillingness to lose a day’s wage in order to reach the nearest medical facility. Also, due to discrimination, the access to healthcare services remains a challenge.

Healthcare for underprivileged, which is a desperate need, thus remains unaddressed. Chetanalaya works towards improving the access to quality health services for the poor and marginalised communities. Chetanalaya works at the individual and community level to improve the health conditions of the community. Health camps are conducted from time to time in association with health care partners with a view to provide treatment services by initially conducting diagnosis and referrals to hospitals for major cases. Health workshops and awareness programmes are organized on the topics such as nutrition, seasonal diseases, health and hygiene, menstrual health, personal and environmental hygiene, awareness on prevention of various diseases, etc. Direct observation & treatment services (DOTS) center in Kalyanpuri being run by Chetanalaya helps to cure tuberculosis. More than 15000 people benefit from the healthcare programme every year.

Chetanalaya through its integrated approach is fulfilling the basic health needs of the underprivileged.
